The original drawing was in an online auction to raise money for the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund (NECCR) in honour of my secondary school teacher’s granddaughter, Emma. Emma was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 3 and spent the next 5 years of her life battling this awful disease until finally the battle was lost in 2013. She was only 8 years old when she died. Since then her Grandad John & other members of her family have been fundraising for the NECCR by doing various sponsored runs including the Great North Run. At school ‘Mr Gardiner’ was best known for his sheep drawings so I thought it only right to draw a sheep with a lamb to help raise some money for this very important charity. The drawing raised a massive £300.10 which I am extremely proud of. The 10p was a very important factor. Emma really wanted to make it to 10 years old, sadly she didn’t but John collected extra 10p’s from donations to represent what would have been her 10th year and donated them all to the Nepal earthquake appeal. There will be a further donation made to the charity every time a limited edition Mam & Lamb print is sold too!
